With sectionals only 10 days away, my body is as strong as it’s going to be, and I’m either ready or I’m not.
Last year was my first taste of competition. I completed 3 competitions last year, and my mind set was kill or be killed. I had the ‘eye of the tiger’ so to speak. This year is very different. I am physically stronger than I was last year, but more importantly I’m mentally and emotionally stronger than I was last year.
- I understand that I’m strong, but so are other women.
- I understand that I’m fast, but so are other women.
- I understand that I’m dedicated, but so are other women.
- I understand that on that day I can do my best, and it’ll be good enough, or it won’t.
I truly believe that at the competition level it starts to become less about physical strength and more about emotional/mental strength. Mentally I’m prepared to attend sectionals, give it my best performance and see where the cards fall. If I finish top 20 GREAT, I’ll continue to hit the gym hard and get stronger. If I don’t finish top 20 that’s ok, I’m still going to hit the gym hard and get stronger.
