Get outside your box

I did exactly that this past Saturday and couldn’t be more thankful. With only 6 weeks til regional’s it’s all about working harder than ever before. What better way to do this than to gather with the best in the region to wod right? So 6 of us (Charlie ‘Too Much’ who went to the games last year, Dan who won our sectional, Lisa Shiu who also won our sectional, Brian Yoak a bad ass competitive coach and Jillian Neimister who crushed it this year at sectionals, and myself of course ) committed to gather at CFLegacy at 8am to redo the ’08 Games Wods.

Why would I get up at 5:30am on a Saturday, drive and hour and put myself through hell? Because it’ll make me better, stronger, faster both mentally and physically. There is a certain level of competitiveness above and beyond the normal that comes out when you’re on someone else’s turf, facing off with the best around. Did I win? No, I didn’t have the fastest times, but I’ll tell you what I did win.

  • The ability to face off with the best and not wet myself.
  • The ability to chase the best in the area.
  • The ability to control my nerves when it matters.

I’ll be that much more prepared for regionals for it, but that did mean I had to get outside my box.  When was the last time you did a wod outside your box? Have you ever done a wod outside your box? Why not? Even if it’s just up the road, or 2 hours away, get out and visit another box. I’ve never regretted visiting another box. Some of my great friendships have been a result of getting outside my box.
