20 reps or 20 min

As many of you know I have been working with Ty Philips at the Gorilla Pit for 5 weeks now, and wow of wow have I seen some huge gains.  The challenge I have now is getting my mind to catch up with the gains my body is making.  I’m moving larger loads than I’m used to and surprising myself on an almost daily basis.

Yesterday I challenged my mental game with a 135lb barbel complex of deadlift-clean-front squat-jerks.  My goal was 20 reps or 20 min.  Why?  Because I’ve never moved that much weight for that many reps so I didn’t care about the time, I just wanted to get the work done.  Keep in mind the progress……going into the games my max clean and jerk had been 135…yesterday I did 20 reps and it included a lot more work than just 1 rep clean and jerk.
