I am my third week into an Olympic Lifting program that has me lifting 4 days a week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. This is the most volume I’ve ever spent working on the olympic lifts, and this is the most confident I’ve been in my lifts.
The program is the Idaho lifting program. You punch in your one rep max for the snatch, clean and jerk, back squat and press. It spits out your rep schemes and the weights you should be moving. I’ve never questioned anything until yesterday.
My one rep max clean and jerk is 165lbs and the program had me rack jerking 160lbs 6 times……6 TIMES?!?!?!?! I thought about calling the coach that suggested this program to ask him what was wrong with the spread sheet, but Marty told me to ‘man up’ and just move it. And who would have guessed…..I MOVED IT!!!! 5lbs less that my previous 1 rep max for 6 reps!!! whoop whoop! The funny part is that I was able to get my celebratory kick on the third rep. Check out yesterdays rack jerks below:
