Something that I’ve realized in the last couple of months is that i don’t have any hobbys. Now I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. When I worked in corporate america I had CrossFit as my hobby and my release. Over the last two years I’ve taken CrossFit from a hobby to a career and a lifestyle.
Enter Aila stage left…..
four months ago I got a Cane Corso puppy and my life hasn’t been the same since. She’s become my hobby. She’s been with a private dog trainer weekly since she was 10 weeks old, and I work everyday on her obedience, walking her, playing tug, feeding etc. Now I’ve gotten accepted into a protection club.
What’s a protection club? A small group of people that work on training dogs for protection. They get their dogs certified as canine good citizens, therapy dogs as well as protection. Aila will have a suspicion command, a bark, a bite, an attack and of course a release. It’s amazing to see the possibility of where Aila can go with some consistent training. So….for every Sunday I’ve committed to spend 3-4 hours working with Aila and the club to make her the great dog I know she can be. I think training a GREAT dog and companion is a pretty damn good hobby.
