Maybe you’re in the wrong profession

I heard a story recently that still has me scratching my head….

I recently had a member buy a membership for her sister
1. because she really wanted her sister to CrossFit
2. because her trainer laughed at her???

As usual when you join a ‘globo gym’ aka a franchised gym they offer you 3-6 sessions with a trainer. That gives them a chance to sell you on why you need a trainer. This can be great for individuals that joined a gym, but have no idea where to start or how to do it. It doesn’t work when they laugh at a potential client because they’re shooting for a hard goal.

Let me set this up. The new client is middle aged, plus size and very excited about taking back control of her life. She was looking to her new trainer to help her along this new journey.

Trainer: What’s the one thing you want to achieve?
New Client: I want to do a pullup
Trainer: (while laughing and rolling eyes) Good luck with that…

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!? This is one of the most disrespectful things I’ve heard of any trainer doing. My response to that “Maybe you’re in the wrong profession!!!!”

  1. Thanks for sharing! I told a lady in a similar situation at the box who was fretting over not being able to do Handstand Push Ups that if she sets her goal and works it, she will be ASTOUNDED at what she will be doing!! I wanted to be the polar opposite of that Jack@$$!!
