10 reps sucks

Today I had the joy of tackling my first day of ‘competition training’ in preparation of the 2013 CrossFit Games season.  Knowing that I’ve been out of it for some time due to surgery, and that the loads in CF are getting quite heavy I’ve chosen to work on building strength.

After bouncing a program off several people I’ve created a hybrid of conjugate and skill that I’ll use for the next few months to increase my raw strength as well as my ability to use working weights.  My master plan will have me adding metcons back in two months out from The Beast of the East, my first competition post surgery.

Today was front squats – 6 sets of 10 increasing the weight each round.  I thought it was bad at 125lbs, you can only imagine how 145 and 155lbs felt.  I got a little light headed on the last two sets of 155lbs.  Needless to say, I quickly learned that 10 reps suck!  It’s going to be a long three weeks.
